HOW IT WORKS

  • You must be in a book club and your book club must have a name (even if it’s a temporary name) in order to register for this competition.
  • Each week of this three week challenge will include unique library, book, and reading-themed challenges for book club members to earn points at green, blue, and black diamond levels. The book club whose members have racked up the most points over these three weeks wins!
  • New challenges will be announced each week on Thursdays, with a deadline of completion the following Thursday.
  • We will provide links for each participant to record their completed challenges each week and track combined team points.

HOW TO KEEP SCORE

  • Each participant reports their completed challenges weekly by filling out a Google form (links to the form will be provided weekly via email and on the website).
  • When reporting on your completed activities, make sure to also report your book club’s name on the forms so we can tally each book club’s total points.
  • On Friday, March 13, we will tally all the points, announce the First, Second and Third place book clubs, and award their prizes!

FAQs

Q: I’m not currently in a book club. Can I still participate?

A: This is a competition between book clubs, so you need to be in a club in order to participate. Here are some ideas for people looking for book clubs:

  • Start your own book club today!
  • Check out this library webpage for some community book groups.
  • Take a look at these book clubs for adults offered by the library
    • Shelf Talkers at the Gunbarrel branch (Contact Matthew – wirtam@boulderlibrary.org
    • (will add more here once we have them)

Q: Does everyone in my book club need to participate?

A: No! Of course, the more people from your club who participate, the more fun it could be and the more likely you are to earn enough points to win, but you can participate as the only member of your book club if you’d like to.

Q: My book club doesn’t have a name. Can we still register?

A: Now is a great time to create a name for your book club! It doesn’t have to be a permanent name, but all participants need to be members of a named book club so that we can effectively track points.

Q: Does everyone in my book club who is participating need to register?

A: Yes. If you’re participating, you need to register with your own name and an email address. Each person needs to complete a separate registration form. This allows us to track points.

Q: Can I win the competition as an individual?

A: All participants need to be a member of a book club in order to register. Points earned by participants are added to their book club’s total. The book club with the greatest total points, wins at the end of the competition. If you are the only member of your club that registers for the competition, and your club earns the most points by the end of the competition then, yes, you would win!

Q: My kid would like to participate. Can they?

A: This competition was designed for adults age 18 and older who are in book clubs. Our library holds two amazing reading competitions each year for individuals of all ages (the Summer Reading Program and the Winter Reading Challenge). We hope your kids will join one or both of those!

Q: When will the challenges be revealed?

A: We will release challenges weekly on Thursdays. We will email the week’s challenges to all participants each Thursday morning by 8:00am: February 19, February 26, and March 5. We will also post the challenges on the Bookworms webpage each Thursday morning. Participants can begin earning points for the week’s challenges as soon as they are released.

Q: How long will I have to complete the week’s challenges?

A: You can begin to earn points for the week’s challenges as soon as the challenges are released on Thursday morning (check your email on Thursdays starting February 19th!). You need to report your prior week’s points by 5:00pm on Thursdays (your Thursday email from us will include both the upcoming week’s challenges AND a link to report your points from the prior week).

Q: How will I provide proof of the challenges I complete?

A: You’ll record your points on a linked form that will be emailed to you and available on this webpage. Reporting will be based on the honor system.

Q: How often should I submit points using the provided form?

A: You are welcome to submit multiple forms per week – indicating which challenges you completed as you complete them, or you can track that on your own over the course of each week and submit one form at the end. We do need at least one form per person per week because there are new challenges every week and to track the progress of each club.

Q: When does the competition begin and when does it end?

A: The competition begins on Thursday, February 19, 2026 when the first week’s challenges are emailed to participants at 8:00am. It ends at 5:00pm on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Q: When will we find out if we won?

A: Each participant needs to report their points for the prior week by 5:00pm on Thursday: February 26, March 5, and March 12. We’ll email each participant a link to a form to record their completed challenges. We hope to tally points and post the leaderboard on Friday afternoons, announcing the winning book club on March 13, 2026.
