Dear Library Enthusiast,
The heat went out in the Boulder Library Foundation office on April 1, but our donors bundled up and stepped up to the challenge of helping us meet our $30,000 match.
Former Foundation Board President Alicia Seidle and her daughter Madeline and son Jack even walked their donations over in the cold. Jack and Madeline had been saving their allowance for months because they both love the library and wanted to give back to the place where they spend so much time.
In all, more than 100 patrons donated between March 13 and April 1 during our Spring Forward Campaign that culminated on Library Giving day.
These gifts are helping us continue to build what Boulder Public Library Director David Farnan calls “the economy of sharing.”
“The ethos of the public library, really, is to share. We just share everything,” Farnan says in The Boulder Weekly’s latest feature story, Libraries and the economy of sharing: An ode to the palace of the people.
“The community pays for it, but then we as an institution are tasked with the responsibility of sharing it with everyone,” he says.
Thank you to all who participated! Your gifts are helping us fund literacy, outreach and cultural programs. You are helping us build community.
Warmly,
Chris Barge
Executive Director
