Sustainable Library Funding
Over the last few years, we have been proud to fund 90% of the Boulder Public Library programs. A library needs more than just programs; however, it requires a place to put on those programs—physical spaces that match the first-class offerings that the library provides. The Foundation has championed a capital campaign to support the Boulder Library system’s expansion with the new state-of-the-art NoBo Library branch.
NoBo Branch Update
Since its inception, the Boulder Library Foundation has proudly funded cultural, literacy, and educational programs at our library. A library needs more than just programs; however, it requires a place to put on those programs—physical spaces that match the first-class offerings that the library provides. The Foundation has championed a capital campaign to support the Boulder Library system’s expansion with the new state-of-the-art NoBo Library branch.
Concert Series Update – February 2021
Thanks to the Boulder Library Foundation, the Library Concert Series has recently recorded several sessions in the Canyon Theater featuring musicians John Gunther-woodwinds, Gonzalo Teppa-bass, Victor Mestas-piano–as well as Music Mediation musicians Tom Weiser-vocals, James Hoskins-cello, and Dexter Payne-woodwinds. Boulder Channel 8 is preparing these recording sessions to air in March and we cannot wait to give you the links for these performances!
Short Story Dispensers have arrived at Boulder Public Library
The Boulder Library Foundation has gifted 2 Short Story Dispensers to the Boulder Public Library and they are up and running! Thanks to Short Édition, a publishing house of Short Literature: poetry, short stories and ‘flash fiction’, Boulder has become a ‘Storied City’!
2020 Year of Impact
To say that it was a challenging year would be an understatement at best, but we were reminded that we find strength in our community in times of crisis. Rather than retreating into isolation, we saw donors and friends like you step up to support, serve, and make an impact when our library and librarians needed it the most. In 2021, we are firmly committed to continuing our efforts to impact our community’s hearts and lives, and we look forward to you being a part of our story.

A Note on Prospector
Prospector is a beloved service highly valued by residents and libraries alike. However, given extensive budget cuts due to the pandemic, Boulder Public Library (BPL) and the Flatirons Library Consortium (FLC) cannot currently afford Prospector’s high expense at $52,000 annually.
Library Concert Update
As we approach 2021, the Boulder Library Foundation is busy imagining the future of what live concerts will look like. We look forward to having you ‘tune in’ soon!
Proud to Fund Innovative Library Programs That Bring Internet Connectivity to Those in Need During COVID-19
As COVID-19 quickly shut down our Boulder community, internet access very quickly became a lifeline for Boulder residents. The Boulder Library Foundation, together with the Boulder Public Library, and Boulder Valley School District have worked together to launch the Boulder Public Library Wifi Hotspot Program.
Boulder Library Foundation Steps up to Launch a Fundraising Campaign to Help a Library Worker Out (HALO)
Library staff are the heart and soul that make the Boulder Public Library one of the greatest public assets in our community. However, due to the COVID-19 crisis, the City of Boulder has been forced to furlough 737 employees. As a result, 70% of the library staff have been furloughed until at least June 28th, 2020. Always eager and ready to help, our beloved librarians could use a helping hand, now more than ever, from the greater Boulder community.
