January Newsletter: An impactful 2024 & what’s to come

Jan 31, 2025

In this month’s newsletter we review and thank you for a very successful 50th anniversary year; we celebrate the close of our NoBo Capital Campaign; we encourage you to become a One Book One Boulder Circle Leader; we promote our library’s wonderful volunteer opportunities; we recommend an illustrator talk in the Canyon Theater this Saturday; we announce a new name for the cafe at Boulder Main; we catch you up on all the library news you may have missed!

See below for a message from our Executive Director and view the full January newsletter here!

Dear Library Enthusiast,

What a year! We’ve come a long way since our founding in 1974, when we raised some of our first funds through a bake sale organized by a small handful of library lovers.

Last year alone, our donors helped the Boulder Library Foundation raise $531,000 and grant $669,000 to our library – the second-highest grant total in our history.

We celebrated our 50th anniversary with a sold-out gala featuring Bonnie Garmus of Lessons in Chemistry. It netted $137,000 for our library’s literacy and outreach programs.

We capped off a successful NoBo Capital Campaign, which granted $1.25 million and made a major difference for the new branch and its Studio 24 makerspace when they opened last summer. A wonderful new playground and culinary and herb garden will debut outside the branch in the coming months, thanks to donor support.

Later this year, the library will launch a new writing center, expand its Reading Buddies program, offer more ESL classes, give away more bilingual books, conduct more multicultural outreach events, and bring visiting artists to our makerspaces, all thanks to our donors.

Together, we’re making a difference for our public libraries. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

You can read more about our journey in this Daily Camera story commemorating our 50th anniversary.

With high hopes for a great year ahead,

Chris Barge
Executive Director
