Dear Library Enthusiast:
Our 50 Year Gala featuring Bonnie Garmus and stories of lives transformed by the Boulder Public Library is in the books. It was an enormous success, and yielded terrific resources for our library.
Bonnie delighted us, while challenging everyone to think more deeply about the workplace and societal misogyny she wrote about in Lessons in Chemistry. Olivia Kim, age 10, gave us reason to feel hopeful about our library’s future in this inspiring video. And together, we NETTED more than $125K, after expenses! These proceeds will directly support our library’s outreach and literacy programs. If you missed the opportunity to donate, or want to make an additional contribution, please give today.
Our Pulitzer Prize-winning event photographer, Bear Gutierrez, curated this gallery of his best shots from the evening. They are spectacular.
If you missed your chance to buy the collector’s edition of Lessons in Chemistry, the Boulder Bookstore has extra copies autographed by Bonnie Garmus at our gala, for sale here.
Finally, if you missed the KGNU Community Radio 88.5 FM broadcast on October 24 of the interview that was recorded on our gala stage between Bonnie Garmus and Maeve Conran, on Radio Book Club, brought to you by KGNU and the Boulder Bookstore, you can listen now on the KGNU website.
Thank you to Bonnie, to Chef Dina Paz, our event sponsors, and to all of you who made our 50 Year Gala an evening to remember.
If you weren’t able to join us this year, watch this space for news in the coming months and mark your calendars for next year’s event.
Gratefully,
Kitty deKieffer, Adriana Farmer and Chris Barge
