Dear Library Enthusiast –
The books are on the shelves, the final paint touches are drying, and the first new Boulder Public Library branch in a generation is almost ready for patrons.
Mark your calendars for a big celebration and plan to join us for the new NoBo Library’s grand opening festivities on Saturday, June 29.
There will be food, music and festive activities for all ages. The event is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with speeches and a ribbon cutting beginning at 11 a.m.
Located at 4500 13th Street, the 12,000 square-foot library cost a total of $16.1M to design and build. Revenues from the Community, Culture and Safety tax funded $5M of the project costs. The remainder came from other capital funds, library-specific funds, donations, and grant money. Annual operating costs are estimated at $1M and will be funded by the operating budget of the Boulder Library District.
The Boulder Library Foundation’s NoBo Library Capital Campaign continues to help fund aspects of the project, including a playground and a new “Studio 24” Makerspace. The campaign will continue to add bells and whistles as more funds are raised. Learn more, or donate to the campaign, here.
See you at the party,
Chris Barge
Executive Director
