Makerspace Expansion ProjectThe Boulder Public Library is part of the growing momentum of the makerspace movement in libraries across the country. The makerspace offers community workshops and space for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) hands-on projects—such as sewing, building, designing, fabricating, welding, and 3D modeling. The Foundation’s support allows for the purchase of necessary tools, equipment, and raw materials as well as an artist-in-residence to teach a class.
Lego Story Club brings together children three and up to listen to a story, then engage further with the story by creating related Lego structures in a fun, social setting. It’s a well-received opportunity that encourages creativity, motor skills, and socialization.

The Children’s Library Exploration Station presents hands-on activities for elementary-aged children that encourage them to explore and actualize their world. Monthly activities utilize materials such as building blocks, nature exploration kits, and large-scale drawing components that encourage children to learn by experience and see the library as an ideal place to explore.
